Harry Potter and the TW Traingineers!

The Traingineers are heading to the West Coast in a couple of weeks to install our first ever Harry Potter themed train layout. Chief Traingineer, Roger Farkash, designed this layout complete with Hogwarts Castle, Great Hall, Station 9 3/4, Privet Drive and some absolutely awesome bridges hand crafted with our handy dandy laser cutting machine.

My favorite part of the layout are two areas where little Hogwarts can pop up and stand inside the Grand Hall on up through the Castle and then down on the other end of the layout they can pop up and be inside a loop with the London Bridge wrapping around them. CRAZY FUN I tell ya!

Get comfy, pull up closer to the screen, grab some popcorn and enjoy a quick slide show behind the scenes with the TW Traingineers inside the TrainWorx Studio:

THREE… TWO… ONE…   ACTION!

Back from OMAHA!

Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder’s Meeting
May 3, 2014
Omaha, Nebraska USA

What an Absolutely  “TrainTASTIC” trip I had with the Traingineers at this year’s Berkshire Hathaway meeting!! I especially enjoyed meeting with Mr. Buffett again and having the incredible opportunity to spend time with him and really appreciated his genuine pleasure to take pictures with the TW Traingineers along with our special guest, Lionel’s VP of Marketing – Mike Phillips. Check out all the smiles…

I was standing on the other end of the table while Mr. Buffett was talking with Mr. Rose from BNSF, and the question arose from Mr. Buffett the desire to have an even bigger layout next year and I chimed in.. “We’d love to design an additional section to your layout!! So… shhhhh don’t tell anybody, totally UNOFFICIAL, but perhaps Roger will soon be in BNSF Layout Addition Design Mode and that would be SOOOOO COOOOOOL!!

TW TrainWorx Layout featured in Architecture Tour

Countdown is on… In 24 hours, everyone who would like to experience one of our custom layouts… tomorrow is YOUR chance!

The Rice Design Alliance 38th Annual Architecture Tour “Additionally” will take place March 29th and 30th in Houston, Texas. One of the eight homes featured on the tour is where the Traingineers just finished installing the “Houston, Wharton, Pecos River Railroad” in it’s very own TRAIN GALLERY!!

*** This just posted online from the Houstonia eMagazine:
Houston, Wharton, and Pecos River RR. ***

The layout has been in our studio for well over a year as architects and construction workers painstakingly remodeled this home. All the outstanding effort and focus to detail by everyone has resulted in this home addition being included on this prestigious Architecture Tour!!

Here is a shot of the train room (pre-Gallery designated) in its infancy:

February 2014 … Layout Installs and Dismantles

What a fabulous month February has been for the TW Traingineers having the incredible opportunities to partake in the Rosenbaum, “Houston, Wharton, & Pecos River RR” layout installation and just earlier this week the dismantle of the awesome, seen by millions world wide, Lionel Holiday Layout displayed at the Transit Museum inside the Grand Central Terminal which just celebrated its 100th Anniversary of existence!!

Gives me goosebumps to think about all the travelers and stories that have transpired in the 100 years…

I know you will enjoy this time lapse of the TW TrainWorx Traingineers doing what they have a passion to do!

Enjoy!

P.S. SAVE THE DATE: September 27, 2014 join us for our 3rd Annual Layout Festival!

Houston… We Have S U C C E S S!!!!

It’s been a long time coming and I am happy to say the layout installation of the Houston, Wharton, & Pecos River RR has been completed and to quote the layout owner: “the incredible piece of artwork now resides in his Train Gallery!”

Wow, I had no idea of the absolute pleasure I was embarking on back in June of 2011 when Glen first contacted us to collaborate with him to make his 50+ year dream layout come true… all the while, at the same time he was in the process of remodeling/adding on to his family home in Houston. I won’t go into a long account of the extraordinary experience but will take the opportunity to focus on two items:

#1. The entire layout – all 410 sq. ft. of it (14′ x 30′) went up into the train room (back then it was a “room”) through a hole in the floor (not kidding) which was deemed the “Farkash Hatch” by Glen and his Architects from the get go!

Farkash Hatch Collage:

And on to…

#2. Glen’s home was chosen to be 1 of 8 in the 38th Annual Rice Design Alliance Architecture Tour which you all are invited to partake in Houston, Texas –  March 28th and 29th! Read all about it right here:
Architecture Tour

I have it from my sources that there will be an exclusive article written about the Houston, Wharton, and Pecos River RR very soon and until then I can’t post any “finished finished” photos but here are a few I took of the Traingineers during last weekend’s installation:

This video just in from the inaugural running of the trains on the
Houston, Wharton, & Pecos River Railroad, ENJOY!

Next in line for the Traingineer Production Studio is a layout for a gentleman in California who Roger designed a Harry Potter themed train layout for and just added to our production schedule another residential layout for a gentleman in Alabama whom we had the pleasure of meeting at last year’s LCCA Convention!

1.2 Million Pounds…On The Move

That’s right! The UP 4018 Big Boy was on the move yesterday on its way to Frisco, Texas where it will join the other Museum of the American Railroad trains!

Yesterday afternoon, Roger returned from the Lionel Customer Service open house to find out the move was on – so he got off the plane…jumped in the car…and tracked down the Big Boy just before sunset:

BIGBOY2s

BigBoy3s

BigBoys

Get a load of these stats:

The Big Boy hits the scales at 1.2 Million pounds! Required 26 tons of coal, 25,000 gallons of water to be able to pull a 5 mile long train! Wowzers – that’s a BIG BOY.

I thought it’d be great to have the BIG BOY first make an appearance at our 2nd Annual Layout Festival but knew that’d be out of the question, however I’ve got the next best thing – representatives from the Museum of American Railroad will be on hand to share information on all the wonderful trains they have for their new Museum in Frisco. Plus we’ll have representatives from BNSF at the Festival who are the REAL TRAIN MOVERS getting the Big Boy to its new home!! Additionally – we will have a BNSF Railroad Officer here and I’m working on having a BNSF patrol car here as well…this just in – Lionel’s Mike Reagan is confirmed to be here!!

There are over 100 attendees signed up for this year’s festival and if YOU haven’t signed up yet, please do so right NOW! The date is Saturday – September 14, 2013 right here at our Dallas studio: 2808 McGowan Street

http://www.trainworxfestival.com

Here are some pictures from Lionel’s Customer Service open house this past weekend in Ohio. Enjoy!
