Roger and I had the pleasure of traveling up to see our favorite Amarillo customer, Tom Campbell, to install a very cool enhancement to his TrainWorx custom layout, the High Plains Division of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway.
Roger started collaborating with Tom in 2012 to realize his desire of having a train layout that would reflect features of the High Plains and Santa Fe style engineering. Tom has a wonderful 30 plus year history of actually working on the Santa Fe RR as an Engineer/Manager and he wanted his layout to reflect just that.
Our two day enhancement installation focused on this area that Tom had cleared out for his Locomotive Service Yard… aka – BEFORE SHOTS:
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with both Roger and Tom experiencing two days of listening to Tom’s great railroad stories and there really is nothing better than watching Roger in action and witnessing how he ties everything together as if the Service Yard had always been on Tom’s layout.
Please enjoy the AFTER SHOTS:

TCA National Convention dates: June 18 – 26 | Hotel: The Houston Marriott Westchase | TCA Convention website: http://tcaconvention.org/
Traingineers are getting ready for the TCA National Convention where we will have the Railway Express Agency layout on display right smack dab in the TCA Convention Hotel!
Rather than have the REA layout on the baggage cart, the Traingineers built a new base special for the TCA Convention, check it out:
A little bit of sprucing up before the REA heads to Houston next week:
We’re honored to have two custom TrainWorx layouts that will be included on the TCA’s layout tour:
Don MacCormack’s tour is Wednesday – June 22nd
Glen Rosenbaum’s tour is Thursday – June 23rd
Pictured below: Roger, Glen and Don – – – -> True Train Buds : )
Spring may be winding down but Traindame and the Traingineer’s traveling schedule is just getting warmed up!
This past weekend I joined Chief Traingineer, Roger Farkash, to check in, talk trains and break bread with three of our dear custom layout clients…
First stop – Huntsville, Texas where we found Don MacCormack focused on enhancements to his layout in preparation for a Layout Tour Bus full of ‘Train Nuts’ from the Houston TCA National Conventional who will have the pleasure to experience Don’s custom layout, Wednesday June 22nd. Roger assisted with some scenic landscaping and poured water to a creek underneath the Erie bridge – I had some fun and video taped the lesson : ) Please feel free to watch instructional video on pouring in water here: Making water
Enjoy some photos from our first stop at Don’s:
Next stop was little further down the road to Shenandoah, Texas where Roger added some trees and landscaping for the final touches to Steve Tripp’s custom layout. I love what his wife had to say about Steve since the arrival of his layout last month; “He can’t stand to stay away from his train room, I know where I can find him!”
Also on the Houston TCA National Convention Layout tour will be Glen Rosenbaum’s Houston, Wharton & Pecos River Railroad, another custom layout by TW TrainWorx. You can see his layout Thursday, June 23rd and while you are there, be sure and get a picture taken with Traingineer, George Watson, who will be running trains on the HW&PR during the tour! Enjoy some past photos taken of the HW&PR …

TW TrainWorx is experiencing an incredible first half of 2016 with Traingineers traveling to; New York, Texas, Nebraska, California, and Pennsylvania for train events and custom layout installations.
This past April was particularly jam packed starting off with a custom 8′ x 20′ layout installation for our dear friend Skip in Suffern, NY – check out some process shots while on the studio floor:
Here are some shots of the installation taking place in Skip’s home…
From New York, Chief Traingineer, Roger Farkash, then met up with Traindame and Traingineer, Roy McClellan, at Spring York where its always fun to see old friends, meet new friends, talk trains, and happy to say, we came back with five solid leads for custom layouts!
Back in Texas, Traingineer George Watson, lead a crew and delivered a 5′ x 10′ custom layout just outside Houston. Here are some shots of the layout right before it loaded out and then settled in it’s new home:
The very next day the Traingineers and Traindame were off to Omaha for the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder’s Meeting to put up the BNSF layout in the BNSF Booth. It’s always fun seeing Warren Buffett and his friends. This year Bill Gates had a special Virtual Reality Film Crew set up a shot right dab in front of the layout. Enjoy some photos from the BNSF Booth on the Convention floor, first up Bill Gates’ Virtual Reality Film Crew…
Chief Traingineer, Roger and Traingineer George SO Proud of 20 year T W Design/TrainWorx Lead Painter, Eugene, running trains and being part of the 2016 BHSM Traingineer team!
It’s not everyday you have the opportunity to make someone’s dream come true! Below you see the Mayor of Sacramento, and ex NBA player, Kevin Johnson, embracing Roger at the BNSF layout for having found just the man that can make his dream of an ‘Underground Railroad’ layout in his mother’s ‘Underground Bookstore’ come true… more on that as it develops : ) All and all – another fabulously, traintastic time was experienced at the 2016 Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder’s Meeting!
The TW Traingineers want to thank every single one of our FERROEQUINOLOGIST friends for all the enjoyment shared doing what we love doing… having crazy fun with toy trains and sharing our talents to realize that ‘only a DREAM’ layout finally come to fruition!
It’s funny… I’ve been attempting to write this 2015 year in review since December but we’ve been delightfully focused on several new projects coming down the tracks in what I believe is going to be our best first quarter *EVER* in 2016. But, let’s go back in time NOW and check out The Traingineer’s 2015 adventures in pictures, enjoy : )
